Human Resources Intern:

Novelis in Davenport, IA has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2024 internship. The team is seeking a Human Resource intern that can join the team for the person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work and gain hands on industry experience. The key responsibility of the Human Resources Intern is to partner with the HR team and work as an intricate part and add to the success of the HR department. The Intern must work with each member of the HR team to ensure that both projects are seen to completion as well as, they are learning as much as possible throughout their stay. Along with project work and day to day tasks, they will work in conjunction with the HR Manager and be responsible for completing one larger project of their choice, in any facet of Human Resources, by the end of their internship.

• Provide excellent customer service to Managers (MUM’s, Unit Manager), HR Manager, and HRBP’s as well as the entire HR staff.
• Assist in recruitment and administration of new hires, terminations, compensation, learning and development, performance management and benefits programs.
• Partner with Mum’s to aid in year-round performance management and succession planning.
• Participate in project work as assigned by HR Manager and in conjunction with the HRBP’s.
• Assist in driving HR’s cyclical projects to completion while queuing up quarterly projects and forecasting deadlines.
• Responsible for developing one project to aid in enhancing one of the following areas: Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Company Culture (specific to Uhrichsville Plant), and/or Training and Development.
• Work with employees to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
• Create and develop standard work for key processes and follow existing internal processes and procedures.
• Assist in conducting and enhancing orientation and play a role with the on-boarding process and paperwork.
• Assist in scheduling and organizing hiring events as well as participating in community outreach events.
• Follow up and document hiring manager’s feedback interviews held with-out the plant.
• Gather new hire packets for employee orientations and attends orientation on behalf of HR when necessary.
• Work with Talent Acquisition Specialist to call back employee referrals and gather information to help fill open roles.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
• Must obtain the classification Junior, Senior, or Post Grad
• interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer students majoring in Human Resource, Management or Business-related fields.
