Summary The Quality Specialist is responsible for the overall process and execution of quality control operations in the organization. You will be responsible for supporting analysis of incoming RMAs from the field, along with evolving our incoming and outgoing QC processes and perform critical-to-quality inspections. You will have extensive knowledge of measurement techniques, GD&T concepts, and will be a contributor to new product development programs. You will be self-starting, with a strong desire to succeed, and collaborate and grow with others in the organization. You will demonstrate passion and rigor to learn, improve processes, and serve internal customers. As a Quality Specialist, you will communicate cross functionally within the organization, with frequent interactions with R&D, Manufacturing and production teams as well as communicate outside of the organization, with interactions with Customers and Suppliers. Primary Responsibilities Ability to manage their own time and job priorities with minimal hour-to-hour supervision (self-starter) Detail oriented and thorough Ability to work in a high pace, changing environment Ability to escalate and influence cross-functionally Excellent written and oral communication skills Subject expert in CMM programming and operation (Zeiss Calypso preferred platform) Basic understanding of computer applications including spreadsheets, manufacturing test applications, and quality analysis software Manage the calibration and ESD programs to ensure compliance against regulatory standards Ability to operate inspection equipment, i.e. high magnification microscope, micrometers, height gage, calipers, comparator, CMM, optical measurement tool, etc. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, good understanding of GD&T concepts is desired Collect and analyze data to predict trends that will affect the improvement of product quality Develop and deliver QC reports, including first article, incoming and outgoing inspection reports Ensures effective, timely communication and complete problem resolution Support the RMA team with detailed and systematic root cause investigation of mechanical and cosmetic related field rejects IPC-A-610 certification is desired for PCBA workmanship inspection and qualification Train inspection personnel as required Support calls with Suppliers to drive corrections via 8Ds Support Customer inquiries for Quality related issues Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies 5-10 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment Associates degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or similar work experience IPC-A-610 Specialist/Trainer Certification or ability to acquire Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and office suite CMM Operation and Programing (preferred Zeiss Calypso) Knowledge of GD&T and IPC-A-610 standards Experience working in an ISO 9001 and 13485 regulated environments Experiencing supporting PPAP/APQP customer/supplier qualification requirements Must demonstrate the ability to show initiative and commitment to the company’s goals as well as readily adapt to changing requirements Able to work from specifications, technical manuals, schematics, and verbal/written instructions Ability to discuss technical problems encountered with customers, engineering and senior management team verbally and written Experience with ERP systems, Oracle and customer portal access, exp. a plus Travel Requirements Minor travel to local suppliers or test labs may be required as needed. Expected travel to be less than 5%. Physical Requirements Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials. Regularly lift 30-50 pounds & perform repetitive tasks. Regularly possess manual dexterity to assemble & test instruments quickly and accurately. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on optical inspection equipment.
