The position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of manufacturing variances, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The Senior Manager, Cost Accounting must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. This position will have two direct reports. This position is based in Bedford, MA and reports to the Controller, Accounting Services Center, in Bedford, MA. Job Description: Create and refine standard cost model for products, including service parts, together with raw materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead. · Ensure adequate controls and reviews are in place for inventory and gross margin reporting, including: cost of goods sold, scrapped material, purchase price variances, standard cost changes, warranty reserve, excess & obsolete inventory reserve, cost closing process, inventory revaluation, monthly inventory reconciliations, manufacturing variances. Review individual part costs to ensure they are current and accurately reflect manufacturing costs. Review, analyze, and establish standard labor and overhead rates for products on an annual basis. Partner with management and the Financial Planning & Analysis group to analyze monthly gross margins, by product. Assist Operations and FP&A teams with identification and execution of productivity initiatives. Prepare cost estimates of new and/or special products to help determine selling prices and production forecasts. Work with Engineering and Operations groups to ensure Bills of Materials and routings are accurate. Monitor the Company’s cycle count program. Ensure counts are being properly recorded and variances are investigated and resolved on a timely basis. · Review month-end journals applicable to the position and review related month-end reconciliations. Assist in the preparation and performance of physical inventories, as required. Drive compliance with company policy and procedures and SOX internal control standards. Support both internal and external audits during quarterly reviews and annual audits. Ability to interface successfully with other peer groups to achieve common goals and objectives. Work on special projects as needed. Requirements: 7-10 years of standard cost experience Oracle experience highly desirable Highly motivated self-starter who can work well independently and in a team environment Ability to thrive in a fast paced, ever-changing environment with the ability to stay focused and quickly achieve closure Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written · Organizational, negotiation, and problem solving skills Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Physical Requirements: Able to obtain up to date Covid-19 vaccination status per current CDC guidelines prior to employment start (full vaccination dose and booster, if eligible).
