The Notre Accounting Manager will direct and oversee the general accounting and reporting functions for Notre.

This full time in office position located in Chicago will provide accounting, financial and administrative direction to the company and is functionally responsible for the day-to-day operations of all areas of finance and accounting, along with a variety of administrative services.

The successful candidate oversees all financial planning and reporting functions and shares responsibility for safeguarding the assets of the company through establishment and enforcement of internal controls and sound business processes. 

Job Description

• Monitor and analyze routine accounting data
• Manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting department including: month and end of year process, cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and utilities, cash forecasting, budgeting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, check runs, debt activity and fixed asset activity
• Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
• Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. 
• Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return
• Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit
• Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
• Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
• Manages and maintains inventory accounting system and cost accounting information
• Provides relevant inventory reports as needed
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with key vendors
• Coordinates annual and interim physical inventory reviews
• Provides Bank and other third party financial reports as needed
• Develops a cash forecasting model for operational decisions
• Produces a daily flash reporting summary

About You:

• Manages the accounting team who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
• Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations
• Proven ability to build and develop an effective dynamic team
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills
• Ability to manipulate a large amount of data
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a related environment
• Strong experience with inventory accounting is required
• Prior experience with process improvements and demonstrated problem solving skills is necessary
• Experience with full-cycle accounting, financial closing and reporting

Technical Skills and Educational Requirements

• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
• Experience working with and developing reports with an integrated ERP system
