Eternal Light Memorial Gardens is looking for an Engraving Operator. As a memorial shop associate, the Engraving Operator is responsible for assisting with the memorial engraving process by utilizing heavy equipment, hand tools and computerized sandblasting equipment.

Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Assist with picking up and installing granite memorials on the ground and in the mausoleum areas with the use of heavy equipment (tractor, backhoe, JD Gator, mausoleum lift)
• Prepare granite before and after the sandblasting process
  • Clean surfaces
  • Inspect granite for defects
  • Apply and remove stencils
  • Apply and remove lithochrome
• Assist with the sandblasting process
  • Lay and remove granite from the production line
• Train on learning sandblasting machines (stationary and portable)
• Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager

Work Environment:

Spends most of the time outdoors and exposed to extreme weather conditions, performing activities like sandblasting and installing granite both in the ground and/or in the mausoleums.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, kneel and/or crouch; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Must frequently lift, push, pull and/or move up to 75 pounds. The person in this role will be exposed to the elements while working outdoors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. 

Requirements and Qualifications

Competencies: 

• Self-starter and able to work independently

• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing

• Ability to work and collaborate with all team members

Requirements & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Knowledge in the use of heavy equipment (tractor, backhoe, JD Gator, mausoleum lift)
• 1-2 years of experience sandblasting and/or working with granite
