The Director of IT leads and is responsible for network infrastructure, helpdesk, and cloud operations supporting the mission of NorthStar Memorial Group. The director selects and implements new technologies advancing our cloud-first approach. This person is the main point of contact for the company’s IT needs.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
  • Hands-on approach to system selection and project management required.
  • Develop or update project plans for information technology projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing.
  • Oversee all technology operations (Network Security, Helpdesk, Systems, Networking) and evaluate them according to established goals.
  • Provide strong leadership with a focus on attracting motivating, and developing best-in-class talent
  • Develop and manage standardized and highly efficient technology services; ensure reliability and scalability of infrastructure in a dynamic environment.
  • Establish and deliver operational metrics, KPIs, and SLAs to provide visibility into the health of technology operations and the performance of teams.
  • Manage all phases of the project and systems lifecycle - research, justification, planning, implementation, support, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Make recommendations and ensure conformance with all security and compliance initiatives - audits, gap analysis, pen testing, controls, PCI, CCPA, Third Party Risk Management, and incident response.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of IT-related initiatives.
  • Supports acquisition diligence and integration efforts and manages the IT process.
  • Consult senior-level stakeholders across the entire organization to identify business and technology needs and optimize the use of information technology.
  • Manage vendors and support our outsourced model – MSP, Microsoft, security, remote hands, MDR, threat management, etc.
  • Partner with the development team to develop their DevSecOps processes.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on cybersecurity and compliance.
  • Formulate and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage Microsoft agreement and renewal process.
  • Occasional night and weekend work to resolve after-hours issues and change requests.
  • Owns outage and degradation management.
  • Monitor budget and cost opportunities regarding all IT systems, while optimizing for quality and reliability
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree highly preferred
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Azure, and/or AWS Certifications highly preferred
  • 5 years proven experience in a Sr. manager or Director-level IT leadership role
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Azure or similar cloud architecture – IaaS, PaaS, Azure Active Directory, function apps, Azure Site Recovery, Azure security.
  • Strong hands-on technical experience: IDS, Active Directory, Windows servers, firewalls, telephony, anti-virus, endpoint detection and response, PowerShell, and SIEM systems.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud shared responsibility model and security best practices
  • Strong knowledge of cloud foundations including Virtual Machines, containers, DNS, SGs, Storage, VNETs, Compute, Security Center.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Available to respond to critical issues arising during non-business hours
  • Excellent Communication Skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships and to manage teams effectively
