Summary:
The Buyer performs inventory control functions, reporting and analysis to support the company distribution center and sales force, with the objective of supporting sales and optimizing in-stock rates.
The ideal candidate will be able to think critically, be self-motivated, and process driven. The most important factors to the success of this role are a willingness-to-learn mentality, hard work, and persistence. This role plays a critical part in driving the business!
Role and Responsibilities
· Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for improvement
· Use a variety of data analysis and organizational tools to uncover insights
· Formulates in-depth forecasts
· Minimizes obsolete and aged inventory
· Develops monthly and quarterly inventory targets including maintaining efficient inventory turnover
· Deploys strategies to increase fill rate
· Partner with key stakeholders to solve problems, write purchase orders, develop inventory forecasts, and execute the replenishment process.
· Communicate with manufacturers and the internal team in an organized, detailed and efficient manner to ensure clear visibility to production planning and logistics operations.
· Balance inventory investment with consumer demand.
· Prepare sales & inventory reports for internal and external leaders.
· Increase Gross Margin through improved inventory and asset utilization
· Conduct frequent data migration, manipulation, merging of large, complex data sets from a variety of sources.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field with two years of buying experience preferred; OR any combination of education, training or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, preferably in manufacturing.
· One to three years of experience in a similar analytical role.
· Proficient in utilizing MS Excel a must. (INDEX match, Pivot tables, V-lookup, and Macros)
· Highly analytical and quantitative, with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with highly motivated team members.
· Experience in project management and process development.
· Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
