Schedule: Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday 9:00am-5:00pm, Tuesday 12:00pm-8:00pm, Wednesday 10:00am-6:00pm, Thursday 12:00pm-8:00pm (Schedule Flexibility Available)
SCHEDULE FLEXIBILITY IS AVAILABLE!!
Pay rate: $17.50-$18.00/hour

The Assistant Program Director (AD) provides quality living supports and be responsive to individuals and staff at all times. Teach, support and facilitate choices for people in their homes and within their communities. Assist with the day-to-day operation of the home.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and implement Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures, including the Code of Conduct, Residential Division Standards and Funding Source Regulations.
  • Ensure that the human, civil and legal rights of all individuals are protected. Follow DPPC and mandated reporting guidelines. Teach and promote dignity, choices and reasonable risk with individuals.
  • Provide hands-on support at the home, including individualized supports in transferring, bathing and grooming, and following specific dining protocols and treatments.
  • Document accurately and thoroughly including in Inter-Team Communication Logs, Health Records, Daily Data Books and Fire Drill Logs as outlined in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures
  • Facilitate meaningful community experiences for each individual that fosters skill acquisition, relationship building and independence.
  • Serve as a role model for individuals and assist in developing social skills.
  • Provide opportunities for individuals to have choices, whenever possible
  • Provide individuals with opportunities for growth, including learning new skills and increasing independence, whenever possible.
  • Participate in Supervision, Staff Meetings, QAs and other meetings/trainings as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure self and staff have required trainings. Assist in training DSPs on house systems and the unique needs of each individual, including providing on-site supervision and support to staff.
  • Administer medications according to Northeast Arc Policies and Procedures and MAPs Regulations.
  • Support Drs appointments, ER and hospital visits and contact on-call nursing appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment and be able to evacuate individuals in case of emergency.
  • Maintain the home and agency vehicles through seasonal maintenance, routine cleaning and immediate reporting of issues or concerns
  • Complete ISP documentation, incident reporting and other necessary documentation in accordance with Northeast Policies and Procedures and funding Regulations.
  • Maintain and review records for individual and house bank accounts in accordance with Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures; assist with Rep Payee and entitlement paperwork as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats, with necessary people, including individuals supported, medical professionals, families, guardians, agencies and Day Services staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed. Report critical issues (including behavioral, medical and maintenance) immediately to the Program Director and complete required documentation.
  • Be able to make sound clinical decisions and appropriate interventions; seek assistance from appropriate people when necessary.
  • Manage interpersonal conflict utilizing standard conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ensure the house is clean and organized. Ensure the home and vehicles are in good repair and effectively report any issues as needed.
  • Ensure House Books and Systems are in compliance with Residential Standards, QA Tools and DDS Survey and Certification, including, Fire Drill Logs, Resource Manuals, House Meeting Books, Confidential Books, Medical Books, Money Books and Data Books.
  • Maintain and follow a current safety plan, including training staff, conducting fire drills and reporting any issues. Ensure minimum safety ratios are maintained at all times.
  • Provide assistance in the scheduling of staff and appointments; provide assistance in payroll as assigned.
  • Adjust priorities, schedule and supports provided to respond to the critical needs of the home. Seek assistance from appropriate people when necessary.
  • Establish good interpersonal relationships with staff, helping them feel valued and appreciated.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following Universal Precautions, ensuring that emergency exits are clear and accessible at all times and maintaining staffing ratios as outlined in contracts with funding agencies and House Safety Plans.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience: BS/BA preferred, HS Diploma/GED and 3 years Human Service Experience

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • A desire to assist people in achieving their dreams and goals.
  • Maintain certifications as required in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures, including but not exclusive to: First Aid, CPR, MAPs, Vehicle Safety, UP, Human Rights Officer and Formal Fire Safety Trained. Maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Apply a high work standard; establish criteria to achieve a high level of service delivery

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary and be able to lift and/or transfer individuals.

Work Environment:

  • Works in the community in a home setting with either multiple residents or someone who lives independently.
  • To ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals we support, you may be deployed to another setting during your working times on a short term basis or as an interim assignment.
