Under direct supervision, provides support to students and faculty in the school setting; assisting with day-to-day activities to enable the student to remain in school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to):
Provides emotional and behavioral support to students and faculty in the school setting; assisting with day-to-day activities to enable the student to remain in school.
Provides services that are welcoming, engaging and accessible. These services are recovery focused, strengths based, culturally competent, consumer centered, trauma informed, and co-occurring capable. Works as part of treatment team to meet the needs of the consumer in a timely and thorough manner. Interacts with consumers in a respectful, genuine and professional manner.
Abides by the agency’s policy on confidentiality and, at all times, respects the integrity and confidentiality of persons receiving wraparound services.
Assists student with various day-to-day activities including maintaining in classroom setting.
Contributes observations to faculty and parents to enhance the student’s academic and behavioral success.
Completes paperwork to document activities and observations.
Monitors supplies needed to fulfill duties and coordinates requests for purchases to assure necessary items are available including games, supplies, etc.
Participates in ongoing in-service education programs and staff development programs.
Attends all required training and staff meetings.
Adopts a flexible work schedule to accommodate the needs of students and school partners.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with community partners. Participates in multidisciplinary team, school-related meetings and educational activities.
Maintains professional certifications and competence through appropriate reading, attendance of conferences and workshops, and consultation with other professionals.
Maintains clinical records in a professional and timely manner as required by contract agreement with ODMHSAS and by the host agency.
Collects data for evaluations and research of program effectiveness.
Meets or exceeds the direct service standard as established by the program manager/supervisor.
Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor and/or executive staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Additionally, behavioral health aid must have completed 60 hours or equivalent of college credit, or may substitute one year of relevant employment and/or responsibility in care of children with complex emotional needs for one year of college experience, for up to two years of college experience. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be flexible and demonstrate patience and sensitivity to student’s needs.
Must possess and maintain current CPR, First Aid and CAPE certifications. If not current upon hire, must obtain within 30 days of employment with NorthCare. Local and out-of-state travel may be required. Must provide verification of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license, during employment with NorthCare. May be required to maintain and provide verification of current automobile liability insurance including uninsured motorist coverage when applicable to community based work. Must have and/or complete Core Level Co-Occurring Training and Trauma Informed Training within 60 days of employment with NorthCare. Must have TB test within 12 months prior to employment with NorthCare, or obtain within 30 days of employment with NorthCare.
Must display proficiency in the MS Word processing software and intermediate general computer skills. Excellent written and oral skills are essential, along with strong organizational skills. Must be able to move about the facilities freely and sit for extended periods. Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally with English-speaking consumers.
