North Texas Food Bank is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Plano, TX

Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Program Coordinator performs a variety of tasks to facilitate food distributions and events in high-need areas in support of the Mobile Pantry Fresh Route program at the North Texas Food Bank. This includes transporting product in a company vehicle in addition to unloading and loading product.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid Class C driver’s license

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiar with DOT and FMCSA safety regulations 
  • Working knowledge of Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with internal and external customers
  • Comfortable working in low-income communities with diverse populations 
  • Ability to set boundaries to provide consistent, quality services
  • Ability to establish priorities quickly, problem solve and manage multiple tasks effectively 
  • Basic skills with MS Office applications and ability to learn new programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Experience: 

  • One year of commercial driving experience preferred 
  • Nonprofit or relevant experience preferred

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead Fresh Route distributions, including driving a company vehicle and engaging with host site contact and volunteers to ensure successful execution and a memorable experience
  • Intake program clients and volunteers; submit and maintain all appropriate records and logs in an accurate and timely manner
  • Work with the Mobile Pantry Administrator to identify potential sites that meet program criteria in high-need areas 
  • Create site maps for efficient, safe, and effective traffic and product flow for recommended distribution type 
  • Collaborate with the Community Partner Relations team in support of program objectives
  • Liaise with Social Services Assistance and Nutrition Education to disseminate information about benefits, like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and healthy eating handouts
  • Perform required before-, during-, and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports
  • Maintain all certifications required by DOT, OSHA and company safety programs
  • Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
  • Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards at special events and distributions
  • Effectively represent NTFB in the community, as an ambassador of our values and mission
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

  • The person in this position needs to adapt well in the face of work stressors, such as customer complaints, compliance offenses, competing programmatic priorities and maintaining the safety of people and property.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk; hear. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. individually, and up to 100 lbs. with the assistance of appropriate equipment and/or co-worker(s)
  • Must be able to successfully operate all gas and electric-powered forklift trucks, as well as manual pallet jacks and other warehouse support equipment, following completion of required training 

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Moderate to loud noise (e.g., business office with open floor plan with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic; medium to heavy traffic in the warehouse with forklifts and pallet jacks).
  • Must be able to frequently work outdoors in non-hazardous weather conditions year-round, and in varying internal (hot and cold) temperature levels in the warehouse
  • Varying schedule typically Monday – Friday, 7:00AM - 4:00 PM (schedule may change dependent on company/department needs) and occasionally outside of the traditional workday and on weekends 
  • Travel required within our 13-county service area
