North Star Independent Living Services is Hiring a Direct Care Worker - Weekend Near Phoenix, AZ

Direct Care Worker - Weekend

Shift varies

North Star Independent Living Services, LLC provides transitional living services for foster care teens who desire self-sustaining independence when leaving the foster care system. Our philosophy is to provide skill building and mentoring in an experiential learning environment enabling our residents to grow into self-sufficient adults who are socially, financially and civically responsible members of society. Staff will teach and role model the essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning and doing laundry.

  • Provide and maintain a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment for all residents.
  • Monitor the safety of all youth by completing hourly rounding on apartments, make daily log entries, and complete Incident Reports to submit to the Site Manager.
  • Monitor the distribution of medication and ensure each resident takes their medication accurately and safely.
  • Work with residents on scheduling appointments and setting up transportation.
  • Transport youth to appointments as needed.
  • Ensure that the needs of each resident are met and engage with each resident on making and reaching their goals for independent living, school, and work.
  • Ensure house is safe and clean, including sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, gathering residents' clothing to place in laundry basket, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education

  • One year of work experience working with youth
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must possess Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass a background check.
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, stand for long periods of time, and maintain alertness at all times.
  • Must complete a TB test and a physical showing free from communicable diseases.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour
