Norm Reeves is Hiring an Instructional Designer Near Cerritos, CA

Position Summary:

The Instructional Designer will be a new function dedicated to elevating employee experiences from onboarding to higher-level development. Norm Reeves Learning and Development team is looking for a motivated and energetic Instructional Designer who wants to put their skills to use, accelerating employees’ development and leading to a world-class guest experience. This position will be working with subject matter experts throughout all areas of the company requiring a driven individual who is always excited to learn and tackle new challenges.

This person will create content that applies to our employees and reflects our company culture. It’s essential that this person can apply adult learning theory/models, best practices, and trends while maintaining knowledge of modern approaches so learning solutions drive lasting impact. We’re looking for someone who has graphic and branding excellence and can build eLearning courses, Instructor-led training programs, presentation decks, facilitator guides, participant guides, scripts, job aids, videos, activities, and gamification.

Essential Functions/Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Builds engaging in-person and virtual Instructor-led training programs to support the new hire immersion experience and employee development.
  • Partner directly with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for various audiences and instructor-led training programs with clear strategies and highly engaging tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Serve as project manager on multiple product development projects simultaneously with the ability to stay within timelines and budgets and rapidly adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ideates with teams on the proper learning solutions that serve a global audience.
  • Builds Diversity & Inclusion considerations into all learning solutions.
  • Updates and maintains our content and learning libraries.
  • Works with various stakeholders across the business to ensure up-to-date content reflects Norm Reeve’s company culture, business, and priorities.
  • Researches and recommends the latest approaches to stay up to date with modern learning and employee development tactics.
  • Establish metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Maintains the Norm Reeves branding; works with the Director of Learning & Development to ensure visual consistency and graphical excellence across all assets and learning resources.
  • Assist and collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail or automotive industries.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with instructional design in various modalities (in-person, online, microlessons, etc.) for complex businesses with a spectrum of employee types (i.e., from executive to entry-level).
  • Knowledge in instructional design, learning & development models, and adult learning theory with the ability to apply modern learning techniques.
  • Experience with design tools commonly used in a learning creation environment (MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline, iSpring Studio & Camtasia Studio.)
  • Ability to create video production, audio recording, and voiceover.
  • Demonstrates exceptional presentation skills with concepts and scripted content for various audiences, ensuring messaging is appropriate for each. Conduct Train the Trainer sessions as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to present a clear, thorough content strategy to various audiences and articulate how this approach supports the learning objectives.
  • Ability to communicate in both written and oral formats clearly and effectively.
  • Open, collaborative style; able to work autonomously in a team environment with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Comfortable in environments with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of management.
  • Curiosity to understand the strategic priorities for Norm Reeves and how learning and development can best address skill and knowledge gaps in the workforce.
  • Preferred experience with CSS and basic website building/design.
