Shuttlewagon, a Wabtec Company is looking for a Production Manager. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager oversees all production areas to ensure schedules are set and communicated. They will also ensure processes are followed with safety and quality as the two main drivers. Furthermore, the Production Manager will engage the workforce by administering performance reviews and evaluating the process flow of the production environment with an eye for continuous improvement. Responsibilities Leadership Ability to think critically and make strategic decisions that align with company goals Ability to lead in a team environment, and understand the importance of driving a continuous improvement culture Provide employees with leadership and guidance for prioritization of work, periodic follow up, and process/quality resources Communicate effectively through oral and written forms to direct reports and management to include but not limited to meetings and kaizen events Conduct employee performance reviews and set goals Work extended hours to ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction Communicate progress and challenges to all stakeholders across departments Provide the employees with guidance for prioritizing work, periodic follow up, and process/quality resources. Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement activities to include kaizens Ensure a clean/organized work area is maintained through daily 5S and maintain equipment accordingly Safety Foster a culture of safety by leading training activities and ensuring safe work practices are in place and being followed Comply with and ensure all stated Nordco safety requirements and company policies are followed Oversee safe operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and other lifting devices as well as finished mobile rail car movers Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education Bachelors Degree or experience in related field. Experience in Engineering is a plus. Lean Manufacturing Experience required Experience Minimum of two (2) years’ experience managing in a manufacturing environment with 20 or more employees Technical Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional and technical journals, governmental regulations and financial reports Ability to read and interpret prints/schematics Ability to write business correspondence and reports Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and suppliers Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems Ability to navigate and competently use ERP’s, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook software programs Achieve success in LEAN Enterprise and continuous improvement environments Behavioral Attributes Excellent interpersonal skills and proven management abilities Curious and always looking for opportunities to learn Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external), in a fair and ethical manner Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment Self-starter Travel This position may require occasional travel to customer and supplier locations Working Conditions Work is medium duty and requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. This position requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. Close vision ability is required. Typical office and plant setting subject to interruptions, moderate noise and other normal environmental conditions. Works under routine deadlines and work volume requirements.
