Position: Director of Operations

Reports to: Executive Director

Description: GLSEN, or the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, is a national education organization working to ensure safe schools for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.

Responsibilities:

Finance

• Serve as the organizations Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Treasurer.
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports to Sr. Management and the Board.
• Oversee the annual audit and filings to governmental and other oversight agencies.

• Prepare and oversee the organization’s annual operating budget.

Human Resources

• Oversee the Human Resources function of the organization
• Prepare and implement an annual performance goal setting and evaluation system.
• Work with managers to address performance issues as they arise.
• Maintain the organization’s compliance with all applicable labor laws.

Information Technology

• Oversee the information technology systems for the organization.
• Ensure all systems are working in a secure environment and that technology is leveraged across all business functions to its full potential.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of a contact management system.

Facilities Management

• Serve as chief liaison to the building and office services and purchasing.
• Serve as chief safety officer

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or comparable area of study. MBA, MPA, CPA or equivalent degree preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP and reporting requirements
• Proficiency with Blackbaud/Financial Edge accounting software package and Raiser’s Edge fundraising software.
• Knowledgeable of labor laws and up to date in trends in the field of Human Resource management.
• Proficient in the use of technology.
• 7 years relevant work experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills
