Job Overview: Successfully, develop and manage the Production team to maintain productive application of resources including personnel, equipment, and facilities to achieve production goals, quality and cost objectives. Prioritize production schedules based on labor availability, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of production. Establishes and promotes production activities and processes in compliance with the company’s Quality System requirements.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Hands-on supervision of daily operations including workflow scheduling, management of staff, monitoring productivity and quality, production process troubleshooting and all other activities required to ensure on-time delivery and 100% customer satisfaction
  • Maintain favorable working relationships with employees through open communication, visibility, and involvement to promote a positive working environment that maximizes safety, employee engagement, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Communicate and ensure production personnel understand and follow all company policies and required safety policies and practices
  • Manages staffing through coaching and development, employment decisions, and resolving employee issues through problem resolution
  • Provides direction, support, and coaching to Production Lead
  • Continually analyze, identify and set expectations to motivate workers to achieve objectives and goals through providing feedback and recognition
  • Perform administrative action for assigned personnel, including performance appraisals, timesheets, and disciplinary action
  • Evaluate production schedules and labor requirements to provide work direction, effectively balance labor resources and provide feedback on planning
  • Develop and implement staffing plans, through capacity and labor planning activities, including writing justifications for additional personnel and obtaining approval
  • Creates and maintains standard operating procedures for production personnel
  • Manages employee training and required documentation to ensure effective training methods that are in compliance with current procedures and quality standards
  • Leads, promotes, and facilitates continuous improvement activities with production employees to identify methods to improve product quality, output, and cost
  • Drive the use of best manufacturing practices such as lean manufacturing, visual management, waste elimination, and 5S
  • Develops and maintains production metrics for quality, delivery, and safety, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports
  • Ensures operation of equipment by; evaluating, purchasing, and maintaining required equipment with the support of Manufacturing Engineering
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Materials, Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering to coordinate activities and resolve production issues on a timely basis to provide the highest level of service

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 years of related manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisor experience

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Results driven leadership, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly provide work direction, communicate with support staff and present recommendations and ideas and to build consensus
  • Ability to build, coach and motivate personnel, while holding employees accountable for results
  • Ability to problem solve and drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree
  • Medical device manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with ERP software
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and corrective action programs
  • APICS certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
