NEEDED: MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

LOCATION: 1540 Spring Valley Drive, Huntington, WV 25704

HOURS / SCHEDULE:

• Business operates on a 24 hour /7 day a week basis and requires coverage as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year for stat and routine laboratory testing and procedures.
• Work shifts for the general laboratory include off-tours schedules, weekends, and holidays. Shift durations are 8 hours as well as compressed 10- or 12-hour duration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• U.S. Citizen
• License – Shall have a current license to perform laboratory testing in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• All licenses shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
• Candidates who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or denied upon application will not be considered.
• Shall be Licensed Laboratory professionals by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT)
• Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must always be kept up to date.
• Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Technologist shall perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results.
• Testing procedures are performed on a variety of biological specimens and/or environmental samples using manual or automated techniques and require a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
• The work performed is in a variety of laboratory disciplines, such as immunohematology (blood banking), chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology (includes identification and susceptibility testing, and phlebotomy.
• Such positions include requirements to monitor quality control systems.
