NEEDED: CT Technologist

NiteLines USA is currently looking to fill several CT Technologist position as listed below: 

This specialty modality requires specific knowledgeable of cross-sectional human anatomy and its application in spiral, and/or, multi-slice computer tomography, inclusive of 3-D reconstruction scans, including drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular examinations. The technologist requires specific knowledge and training in the location, appearance, and function of the various major and minor systems susceptible to radiological illumination; to interpret the examination request accurately; to understand the functioning and inter-relationship of the various organs; to use the methods and techniques which will identify organs appearing on the digital display monitor, or on film, and the various stages of the examination to judge the acceptability of the image and/or scan for diagnostic use and to emphasize the aspects of particular interest to the physician. This subspecialty requires advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography (CT).

STATUS: Full-Time, Part-Time, PRN

LOCATION: 1670 Clairmont Rd. Decatur, GA 30033 Radiology Department

Hours of Operation/SCHEDULING: Flexibility required

  • Business Hours: Monday – Sunday
  • Work Schedule: CT Technologist - M-F Evenings
  • CT Technologist - Sat/Sun Days; Mon &Tues Days
  • CT Technologist - Sat/Sun Nights Thurs & Fri Days
  • CT Technologist - M-F Nights
  • CT Technologist - Days M-F
  • CT Technologist - TBD (Presumed to include Weekend Nights)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • US Citizen
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
  • BLS / CPR Certification
  • License: Contract Radiology Technologist(s) and / or Technician(s) shall have a current certification to practice in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. All certifications held shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Contract Technologists(s) and Technician(s) who have current, full and unrestricted certification who have, or ever had, a certification restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
  • Experience: Must have at least two (2) years of continuous work experience within the last four (4) years to ensure the technologist experience is current and relevant.
  • Shall have knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to serve Radiology patient population.
  • Certified to insert IV needles for administration of contrast material, when necessary. 
  • Trained in the proper use of power injectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately operates a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain examinations of acceptable quality, utilizing the least amount of radiation to obtain quality imaging for diagnosis and localization purposes.
  • Works under the supervision of the Section Supervisor and/or Lead Technologist and rotates all responsibilities within the CT section. He/she works independently on most exams but confers with Radiologists and Section Supervisor and/or Lead Technologist on more difficult problems. Work is spot-checked for achievement of objectives.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology including location, appearance, and functioning of the major and minor systems susceptible to radiographic illumination, and knowledge of changes to systems and organs caused by common medical and surgical diseases.
  • Performs all aspects of CT imaging to include: Head, Neck, Chest, Abdomen, Pelvis Extremities, 3D Reconstructions of CT, Multi-Planar Reformats CT and Angiographic studies when requested and/or when part of a standard procedure. Performs all aspects of CT Interventional Radiography, including Biopsies, RF Ablations, Abscess drainages, cyst aspirations, etc.
  • CT ANGIOGRAPHY: Performs CT Angiography of the Circle of Willis, Carotids, Abdominal Aortas, Run-Off’s, including CT Cardiac Imaging (Cardiac trained technologists only) and CT Myelography utilizing specialized series to visualize the anatomy and pathology necessary for diagnosis. The radiographic goal of CT is to provide high quality axial imaging; generate the best possible images at the minimal radiation dose necessary to the patient.
  • BIOPSIES: Performs Interventional CT biopsy exams utilizing surgical sterile techniques. This requires proper preparation of sterile trays, proper labeling of medications dispensed to sterile trays, knowledge of supplies and specific locations, and assuring measures have been taken to prevent contamination of the patient and equipment.
  • Will work with the radiologist/physician as a member of the surgical /CT team. Must assist and anticipate the needs of the radiologist/physician and the performance of the exam. They must be continuously on the alert for the patient's condition and sterile field.
  • Works independently on most exams but confers with Radiologists and Section Supervisor/Lead Technologist on more difficult problems. Work is spot-checked for achievement of objectives.
  • Required to maintain competence in Venipuncture and refer to the Radiology Service procedure manual for guidelines on Administration of Contrast Media After-Hours, Guidelines for Power Injection of Contrast Media, and CT Section and policy for use of Contrast Media / protocols.
  • Prepares contrast materials under the direction of the radiologist that are used in CT, to include CT Angiography and other exams.
  • Must be continuously on the alert to the patient's condition and other disorders.
  • Must be familiar with policies and procedures for practicing radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self. This is achieved by optimizing technical factors and ensuring all policies and procedure are adhered to.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge in CT dose optimization and the factors that directly affect radiation dose from the CT scanner to the patient.
  • Applies Infection Control practices and procedures for patients and staff, as mandated by the Medical Center and Radiology Service Infection Control policies.
  • Properly operates all electrical and mechanical equipment, is cognizant of basic safety practices related to the use of the assigned equipment.
  • Adheres to hospital infection control and safety policies/techniques with emphasis on sterile technique; the storage of sterile supplies; the disposal of body fluids and ‘sharps’; proper attire; hand washing practices; and continuing education.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and pharmaceuticals used in the department. Responsible for stocking and inventory of all supplies, notifying supervisor when supplies are not available and monitoring expiration dates to ensure all items are within compliance.
  • Use independent judgment and possess the ability to vary exams or treatment procedures as needed to compensate for patient’s individual medical conditions and body habitus.
  • Properly identifies patient by using full name and full social security number and/or hospital name band. 
  • Maintains competency and thorough knowledge of the processes for Critical, Semi-Critical, and Non-Critical Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that document the process and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and preparation of RME and follow established procedures for all RME. Responsible to adhering to the RME policies and procedures within the Radiology Service.
  • Maintains electronic records and files of exams performed on patients.
