About the Role

Nisolo is growing rapidly and we are scaling our team to meet the growing demands of our business. The primary responsibility of the Merchandising Director role is to drive Nisolo’s product assortment strategy, line development, product briefing, and product knowledge across footwear, bags, and accessories and to qualitatively and quantitatively articulate the evolution of each cross-functionally within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Compose the strategic direction for product growth in partnership with our VP of Merchandising & Buying, the VP of Product Development, and Design Leadership that is aligned with the seasonal business strategy and marketplace trends.
  • Partner with the VP of Merchandising & Buying to quantitatively and qualitatively articulate seasonal assortment strength vs. prior seasons in order to support determining product assortment’s impact on forward looking forecasting. 
  • Write compelling product briefs, based on consumer insight and category expertise, that drive design and product development to create original and highly functional products.
  • Manifest the brand ethos of sustainability while helping to bring inventive thinking and creative product options.
  • Lead the development of line assortment plan, margin building, and pricing strategy.
  • Develop brand right assortments, with channel nuances, to achieve revenue growth and profitability goals.
  • Create, lead, and communicate succinct and effective product presentations of seasonal concepts and product line composition to leadership.
  • Mentor 1-2 direct reports and collaborate on a daily basis with them as well as with cross-functional partners within design, product development, buying, and planning.
  • Bring a passion for fashion footwear and combine it with our brand pillars to create products that are as beautiful as they are sustainable, functional, and comfortable. 
  • Drive merchandising reporting and iterate on tools to manage regular and accurate reports, own merchandising tools and recaps, and ensure data integrity and system maintenance on an as-needed basis.
  • Foster and maintain 3rd party vendor relationships. 
  • Drive strategic initiatives supporting businesses growth key initiatives, and set a cadence of clear and regular communication with key stakeholders. 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6-8 years professional work experience leading Merchandising, in footwear, bags, accessories, and/or apparel. 
  • Experience leading merchandising in a high-growth, DTC, eCommerce-first retail brand strongly preferred.
  • Experience working at a successful start up and/or high growth stage environment where team size, infrastructure, and needs quickly evolve. 
  • A go-getter mentality with high attention to detail, exceptional follow-through, and a solution-oriented, problem-solving mindset. 
  • Exceptional ability to work independently and thrive in a very fast paced environment that requires continual multi-tasking and re-prioritization.
  • Ability to zoom in on details and out to focus on strategic initiatives, comfort working at a high strategic level yet excited to roll up sleeves when needed. 
  • Proficiency with Excel and/or Google Sheets including data manipulation/organization.

Compensation: Based on previous experience and expertise. 

Timing: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Only candidates who pass through to the interview round will be contacted. The goal hire date for this role is Q3 of 2022.

Location: Nashville, Tennessee or New York, New York are preferred, however, willing to consider remote with monthly travel to Nashville HQ and/or New York office for the right candidate.
