The General Superintendent is responsible for coordinating, directing, and overseeing the completion of all field activities as they relate to the field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers. A project’s success is a direct reflection of the General Superintendent’s leadership and management abilities. The key to success is motivating and leading teammates to bring in every project safely, on time, within budget, and according to established quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Supervisory Responsibilities
o Executes with Field personnel on project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet the needs and requirements of clients.
o Walk /Visit job sites Weekly or as needed.
o Minimize risk and exposure on all projects.
o Coordinate and communicate Daily with the Field Foreman and Project Manager on Jobsite related issues. Resolve issues in a timely fashion.
o Ensure and regulate proper Job Productions based on Budget.
o Ensure accurate information and paperwork in a timely manner so reports can be generated. Requisition materials and supplies as needed for project operation and completion.
o Daily oversight as it relates to Field Personnel completing their scopes of work in a timely manner.
o Communicate with PM and Field Personnel on all addenda and changes in job site documents.
o Daily Overall Safety and Jobsite Reporting
o Oversee and direct activities of company field labor personnel assigned to the project. Assist in proper staffing of the project.
o Coordinate and Track project Tools and equipment.
o Communicate and maintain a positive relationship with inter-company personnel, as well as between customers and vendors.
· Daily Reports
o Accurately supervise the Field Personnel’s daily report as well as gather, organize and file each daily report.
o Document all conversations to include the following information: time, date, parties to the discussion and subject. Record all conversations in your daily construction report.
· Field Issues
o Supervise and oversee documentation of daily field issues and track ongoing work for proper record keeping as they relate to the field operations of the project.
· Material Deliveries
o Review and be aware of the construction schedule for all major delivery dates of materials and equipment.
o Coordinate with Field Personnel on major deliveries, hoisting operations, rigging operations, and staging operations.
o Ensure permits are provided by the subcontractor for special handling or staging operations.
· Photo Documentation
o Supervise Field Personnel with daily progress photos as required for proper documentation of activities as well as documentation of all field issues or incidents.
· Jobsite Safety / Accident Reporting
o Ensure proper OSHA postings in coordination with Safety Manager.
o Know safety practices for an overall jobsite safety program.
o Be intolerant of unsafe work practices.
o Maintain a clean and safe jobsite / perimeter area.
o Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of all workers and visitors on the jobsite.
o Responsible for accurately completing incident and accident reports immediately following event and immediate notification to Safety Manager and Human Resources.
o Hard hats and safety glasses with side shields are to be always worn within designated construction work areas and proper company safety guidelines should be enforced.
· Project Schedule
o Assist the Project Manager in the development of the project schedule.
o Review and monitor the daily progress of the Field Personnel to ensure manpower is adequate to maintain the scheduled durations.
o Meet weekly with the Project Manager and Schedule Coordinator to review schedule progress or delays.
o Work with the Project Manager and Schedule Coordinator to ensure the schedule is updated weekly.
o Utilize the project schedule as a tool to push and coordinate the project. It is the responsibility of the General Superintendent to maintain the project schedule.
· Rotation Sequence (if applicable)
o Assist the Project Manager in the development of the rotation sequence.
o Review and monitor the daily progress of the other trades to ensure they are working within the rotation sequence.
o Superintendent must constantly monitor owner/ trade rotation and progress to keep the sequence on schedule.
· Quality Control Program
o Administer and oversee the performance of the quality control program. Assist in the creation of Quality Control measures as they relate to the Field Personnel that is overseen by the Superintendent.
o Works in conjunction with the Quality Control Coordinator to ensure all signoffs are complete according to the schedule and prior to beginning the next sequence of work.
o Monitor and maintain job site cleanliness.
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the construction/ coatings industry
· 30-hour OSHA Training Certification required
· Familiarity with construction/OSHA related laws and regulations
· Basic understanding of related computer applications
· Ability to read, understand and execute blueprints, contract specifications and scopes of work.
· Understanding of Niles company policies and procedures
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
· Excellent interpersonal and salesmanship skills
· Ability to work under pressure
· Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles
· Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and can deal with several abstract and concrete details.
· Must be able to travel to multiple out-of-state job site
