Cost Accountant

This role will be instrumental in helping establish, maintain, analyze standard cost, and cost variances as Nikola builds its new fleet of Battery Electric Vehicles in Coolidge, AZ. We are looking for a self-starter who can help drive business process improvement, partnering cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations and Manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for end-to-end inventory valuation of materials. Performs month-end inventory reconciliation and warranty reconciliation.
• Investigates and communicates explanation of manufacturing variances and inventory adjustments.
• Coordinates and facilitates physical cycle counts and physical inventories, helps investigate discrepancies and takes corrective actions.
• Prepares month-end close journal entries including in-transit accruals, inventory reserves, warranty reserves, allocations, and other ad-hoc adjustments/accruals.
• Costs new parts as they are released in the ERP. Reviews costing inaccuracies and make recommendations.
• Analyzes manufacturing-related spending and investigates swings.
• Trains new members of cost accounting team and others within the organization on cost accounting and inventory processes.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience with an ERP system and/or WMS system, e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, MES, etc. (Experience with SAP highly preferred).
• Strong computer skills (Excel, WMS, SQL)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Accuracy and detail focused.
• Ability to work independently with professional demeanor.
• Self-starter and self-motivated with the ability to complete work assignments based on broad directions with minimum of supervision.
• Knowledge of materials management techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Desired 3 to 5 years of manufacturing and inventory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
• Experience in calculating product cost.
