Job Summary Job Description SUMMARY OF ROLE The SMT Process Engineer will work within a team dedicated to maintaining manufacturing equipment and continual development of processes that contribute to improvement in factory performance. The role will collaborate across all the engineering functions and liaise with the production teams to ensure up time of equipment to maximize productivity and support a range of KPI measures. As a Process Engineer, responsibility will be allocated for key area(s) of the factory to be the first point of contact, and as such the equipment efficiency and availability within these key areas. _______________________________________________________________________________ SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This role will provide active support for the printed circuit board (PCB) and mechanical assembly of drives, ensuring all necessary equipment is safe for use and operating at its optimum level to meet the requirements of production. The role will contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice process design that supports continual improvements in operational performance, liaising with all the operations functions, and been the first point of contact for issues within the allotted factory area. General Responsibilities Identify and implement improvements in methods, procedures, equipment, and workflows to increase productivity and maintain hhigh-qualitylevels Actively contribute ideas and corrective actions for the resolution of manufacturing issues Support with the implementation of new products Schedule and deliver a robust Preventative Maintenance system including detailed tasks and activities Support 3Q6S activities Generate programs for SMT machines, work with stencil vendors, develop PCBA reflow oven profiles, and develop/perform routine maintenance for all SMT equipment. Work with Fixturing vendors to support PCB assembly – SMT, Selective wave and secondary operation steps. Responsible for new process development and implementation – work closely with Continuous Improvement team to develop and optimize overall manufacturing process including Product yield and throughput aspects. Create and maintain process instruction documentation Act as liaison between Design Engineering and Manufacturing with respect to new product launch efforts. Knowledge and experience with DFM techniques to help facilitate manufacturability of PCBAs and Assemblies. Manage SMT Operators and Technicians and train them on basic operation of equipment. Manage manufacturing assembly lines which include product build, functional testing, and all final inspections Manage the manufacturing processes related to surface mount technology. Manage quality inspection processes for PCBs and functional testing. Monitor Product Yields on a daily basis and work with appropriate engineers to take corrective actions when trends indicate equipment and/or process issues. Monitor yield, DPMO, productivity, and scrap resulting in action plans to continuously improve processes Knowledge and experience with component engineering aspects as it relates to Part specifications, validation through sample procurement and verification. Support line stoppages and machine/equipment breakdowns, implement root cause analysis on major defects and provide effective corrective/preventive actions.
