Job Summary Responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment, and plants (from pilot to fully operational) to achieve the production goals of the organization. Identifies and develops process and equipment needed to produce specific products, parts, and components. May require a bachelor's/master's degree and 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Job Description Our Process Engineer is responsible for determining the most appropriate and efficient manufacturing processes for newly developed products as well as improving the manufacturing processes for existing products. Goals would include product output, operator safety, operator efficiency, scrap reduction, and world class quality. This is a hands-on position enabling the Engineer to have direct involvement with the equipment, operators, and support personnel. This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or other related engineering discipline. Experience may be considered to offset the degree requirement. Incorporate equipment technology, collaborative robotics, and processes to be world class Identify, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements. Identify and validate opportunities for cost reductions Manages selection, justification, procurement, and installation, of new equipment including appropriate training of operators Troubleshoot processes for quality problems and identify solutions Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize operator efficiency and product flow. Develop and maintain process work instructions and product routings. Implement 6S standards, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles and monitors effectiveness Works with product development teams as new products are introduced to manufacturing. Maintain open communication with team members, colleagues, and manager Maintain regulatory compliance with all Safety and Environmental related processes Monitors equipment for preventative maintenance needs, performs basic maintenance on equipment appropriate with personal knowledge Perform capital equipment justification. Performs and interprets equipment capability analysis Additional Job Details Strong Microsoft Office skills; Advanced Excel knowledge is a strong plus; Project Management software is a plus Functional with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is a plus Excellent interpersonal and team building skills Ability for effective presentations to colleagues and/or management This position requires considerable interaction and proactive involvement with all levels in other departments.
