Job Description Job Summary The Field Service Technician will be the front line in our Service Department as they provide customer support in all technical related issues in connection to Imperial Electric elevator motors. In this, they will be able to handle multiple customer queries/complaints at a time through email and phone calls while delivering excellent customer service. Travel will be required to complete disassembly and reassembly of the machines, as well as assisting elevator technicians in maintenance/repairs. Job Description Essential Job Functions Work with customers to troubleshoot all service related issues regarding Gearless and Geared Traction Machines, AC and DC Elevator Motors, and Hydraulic Submersible and Dry (under the tank) Motors. Proactively interface and communicate with customers to maintain strong relationships and be prompt in response time to customer needs. Work within the existing methods of tracking all customer interaction and updating the appropriate personnel as necessary. Analyze and provide alternate solutions to a problem and select the optimal solution. Must be available to provide field service as needed. This includes traveling to sites to perform field assemblies or assist the customer in maintenance/repair of machines. Proactively identify issue trends and work together with Engineering and Manufacturing to absolve the issue. Learning Period Must be proactive and invested in learning the troubleshooting, maintenance, and assembly of Imperial Electric products while at the home office in Canton, OH or in the field. On-going field training throughout this process while traveling with another technician. Expectation to work independently in the field within 3-6 months. Working Conditions Position requires 25%-40% travel in the field. Our region is majority in the United States, however, international travel including Canada will be necessary so a passport is required. Requires some travel on little or no notice for emergency repairs. Work from office in Canton, Ohio when not in the field. Some, but not all locations may require climbing of staircases and access ladders, or be able to negotiate tight work spaces. Use small hand tools, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. as well as larger tool assemblies and specialized tools after required training. Field work requires wearing and working in appropriate safety gear. Carry service bag and tools (50-75 lbs.) Additional Job Details Minimum 2-year technical degree or military training, specifically in an electrical or mechanical field preferred Valid Driver’s License required to drive to customer locations, either from airports or Canton home office. Experience Requirements Minimum of two (2) years prior experience in an industrial environment required. Prior experience with AC or DC motors a plus. Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team. Capability to accurately and efficiently work on multiple projects. Drive to achieve customer satisfaction. Ability to work within strict deadlines. Experience in troubleshooting customer complaints and solving through coordinating efforts between several company departments.
