Nexus Management is Hiring a Development Coordinator Near Albany, NY

Citizen Action of New York is a statewide grassroots movement organization that fights for political, social, racial, economic and environmental justice. We work at the grassroots to give people a sense of their own power. We collaborate with organizations and coalitions in communities throughout New York to address critical issues at the local, state and federal levels. We work in close conjunction with the Public Policy and Education Fund and the Alliance for Quality Education.

We’re looking to add a Development Coordinator to our team. This position will report to the Co-Executive Director. 

This dynamic, fast-paced role takes an individual with a strong work ethic and confidence to work autonomously.. The Development Coordinator’s primary function is to grow and diversify revenue streams. Success will require skills including prioritization, organization and attention to detail, perseverance, and a solutions-oriented approach to the work.

What you’ll do and the impact you'll make:

  • Identify and pursue new sources of high-wealth individual, corporate, and foundation funding
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors of all types, develop strategies for

solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other staff, board and volunteers

  • Create and implement major gifts program, planned giving program, and regional membership giving program
  • Work with the Communications Department to create and update collateral materials to support gift cultivation, such as an annual report to donors and foundations.
  • Ensure that there is proper acknowledgement of all gifts and donations. 
  • Develop and solicit sponsors for house parties and events as needed
  • Write fundraising newsletter and appeals in coordination with the communications department
  • Create marketing materials 
  • Assist with grant writing when needed 
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications, Organizing, Operations, and Campaigns Departments. This position will require the person to work closely with the Deputy Executive Director and the Executive Directors.
  • Build and sustain working relationships and communication with community associations;

issue area advocates and coalitions; business leaders; grant funders; schools, universities and youth groups; and other institutions.

Who you are and what you've accomplished:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of successful experience in fundraising
  • Proven leadership on prospecting and cultivation of funders and donors, fundraising initiatives including major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, special projects such as capital improvement fundraising.
  • Proven success in Identifying new opportunities to obtain ongoing and/or increased support from corporations, public and private organizations, faith communities, and individuals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while exercising leadership as well as self-motivated independent agent
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Comfort and familiarity with computer systems for financial and data tracking
  • Mastery or willingness to master use of Asana and VAN/EveryAction

Salary: The salary range for this position is $62,100- $67,500 depending on experience, with potential increases for equivalent experience. Relocation stipend available.

10% salary increase for NYC staff.

This position is remote in New York state.
