Allergy and Asthma Medical Group (AAMG) operates specialty clinics in the field of allergy and asthma throughout the California Bay Area. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Verify patient registrations and confirm insurance eligibility and benefits according to established protocols
• Pull charges from EHR and enter according to correct coding guidelines.
• Using coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies
• Work directly with insurance companies and healthcare providers in order to get claims processed and paid
• Answer incoming calls and address patient inquiries
• Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims
• Handle collection of unpaid accounts
• Work aging reports daily, weekly or monthly depending on direction from supervisor
• Make sure that claim follow up work queues are addressed in a timely manner
• Extract EOB data and post payments in the EHR
• Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
• Answer e-mail or telephone inquiries regarding rates for office visits or procedures

Qualifications:

• Experience with EPIC EHR preferred but willing to train
• Have experience working in a billing, accounting or finance department.
• Working knowledge of healthcare: Government, Commercial PPOs and HMOs
• Strong communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
• Ability to read an Explanation of Benefits(EOBs) and extract payment information(allowed amounts, deductible and coinsurance) and denial reason codes.
• Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment
• Basic MS Office skills
