Position Summary

The NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study is searching for an Information Technology Specialist to join the Technology and Operations team. Responsibilities for this role include:

• Serve as point person supporting the school’s IT infrastructure, including Mac and Windows desktops, endpoints, learning spaces, and servers
• Administer and support applications and databases
• Provide tier-3 support for endpoints, servers, systems, and applications
• Provide technical leadership for new systems, processes, and applications
• Develop and support maintenance and security strategy to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operation and security of data; establish and implement backup, remote and cloud access procedures
• Develop and provide technology training for staff and faculty
• Research emerging technologies and make recommendations
• Partner with University departments and schools to develop and implement university-wide technologies
• Partner with consultants, vendors, and IT departments to resolve technical, operational and security needs.
• Develop and monitor departmental budget

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Master's Degree Science in Information SystemsRequired Experience:3 years of experience related to desktop support issues, VMWare, Active Directory administration, Amazon Web Services, IT security software and database management. Candidate must have experience with Windows operating systems; MS Office; computer hardware; desktop support concepts including managed endpoints; (Cortex and Bigfix); virus and spyware protection; system memory and hard disk upgrades; software installation; printer/scanner synchronization; mobile device configuration; imaging; network and user account administration; and Windows back-up, recovery, and restoration.Preferred Experience:3 years experience with desktop support issues, Active Directory administration, and database management. Familiarity with the Salesforce.com platform (i.e. creation of custom objects, and general understanding of Apex code and Force.com).Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to effectively integrate and manage complex projects. Capacity for flexible thinking with excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of an organization, both inside and outside the University. Strong understanding of hardware, software, database management, and networking is required along with working knowledge of telecommunications, web-design, Active Directory/ LAN, and emerging technologies. Strong team leadership and management skills including the ability to analyze trends and make recommendations. Effective communication and relationship building skills with multiple constituencies.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Technical expertise in operating systems, network protocols, and various software applications, with a particular emphasis on using tools like BigFix and Cortex XDR for endpoint management, security, and threat detection. Cybersecurity knowledge and experience are crucial, encompassing an understanding of security measures and compliance frameworks. Proficiency in data management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving are essential for effective IT operations. Additionally, skills in IT project management, customer service, collaboration, adaptability, and continuous learning are vital for successful interactions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with the Salesforce platform. Familiarity with documentation and reporting capabilities, along with vendor management. Demonstrated expertise in strictly adhering to data privacy and security procedures, utilizing tools like BigFix and Cortex XDR to enhance data security. This includes ensuring compliance with legal and NYU security standards, safeguarding sensitive information, and mitigating potential risks effectively. Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $76,500.00 to USD $93,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
