QA Engineer

About the Position

We're looking for a QA Engineer with a passion for news, music, and podcasts to help drive high quality releases. You will be part of a small, high performance team and will have the opportunity to excel and grow your career delivering great quality products at a fast pace. You will collaborate with Development and Product Managers to drive testability and ensure quality of the releases.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements to assess acceptance criteria and determine any impact on existing features or use cases
  • Create test criteria based on user requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Write automated tests using Cypress test automation.
  • Execute manual tests.
  • Manage QA coverage of multiple digital projects.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering & UX Design to foster test-driven practices. 
  • Planning/organizing necessary test passes, staying on top of all important issues, helping with triaging bugs and driving issues to resolutions and keeping everyone aware of QA status.
  • Work with different teams (Engineering/PM/Operation/UX Design/ Support) to collect necessary information to assure the QA coverage, and also provide feedback on quality issues.
  • Work with teams to analyze requirements, set priorities and remove roadblocks to make sure sufficient coverage is done for the release.
  • Assess the status of the release, and help make sure that the release goes out on-time with a high level of quality.
  • Create and support test dashboards/reports.
  • Assess and enforce WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Be a champion for good QA processes within an agile setting.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Python, JavaScript or similar
  • Quality Assurance experience in testing web and mobile applications
  • Knowledge of test and tool development methodology.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail 
  • Good communication/presentation skills.
  • Experience with app test automation – Appium a plus
  • Experience in testing a custom CMS
  • Experience with continuous integration environments (CircleCI)
  • Experience with Cypress test automation
  • Experience testing APIs using tools like Postman or Insomnia
  • Experience in testing analytics instrumentation and integration with analytics software is a plus

Additional Information

This is a full-time role with a salary range of 75K-85K per year (plus a full benefits package). Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. New York Public Radio offers excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation, personal and sick time as well as parental leave.

This role can be either on-site in a hybrid capacity or remote. In office roles require being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless NYPR has approved a specific religious or medical exemption in advance of the first day of work. At this time, NYPR defines being fully vaccinated as having received two Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations or one Johnson and Johnson vaccination.
