Reporting to the Director of Student Communications, the Communications Specialist is an integral member of the Student Communications team and the Office of Enrollment. The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting all traditional and digital communication campaigns to aid in the process of enrolling new students.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Create, distribute, and measure all print, web, social media, and other traditional and digital campaigns to communicate with prospective, applied, and admitted undergraduate, graduate, transfer, and international students. Manage communication campaigns by region and interest to create a targeted and unique experience for students.
  • Streamline overall strategy and encourage synergy among all admissions departments through creation and implementation of admissions and recruitment plans, communication tracks, and yield initiatives.
  • Work closely the Office of Strategic Communications and External Affairs on the creation and approval process of print publications, web, and other initiatives. Assist and act as a resource for the Office of Enrollment Services for their communications requirements, including producing and editing materials for outside audiences.
  • Participate in the editorial review on an ongoing basis of all admissions print and digital communications, including letters, emails, brochures, advertising, catalog, and the admissions website, for accuracy, consistency, relevancy, and promotional value for the divisions’ offices.
  • Coordinate with vendors and outside departments as required, such as email campaigns, virtual tours, texting campaigns, online tools, and more.
  • Event planning and support for virtual and in-person events. Marketing events to prospective attendees and communicating effectively with registrants.
  • Develop analyses and reports on specific plans and campaigns.
  • Manage real-time response to admissions-related inquiries about New York Tech on various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Hootsuite).
  • Other duties as required.

The Communications Specialist will also manage initiatives and campaigns to strengthen relationships with key influencers in the admissions process, including parents, school counselors, agents, and others.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in mass communication and/or marketing/recruiting or related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving project objectives in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software.

Preferred: 

  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Slate experience a plus).
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Work experience with cross-cultural business communications.
