Day (United States of America)Assumes accountability and responsibility for translating the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the hospital and Patient Care Services into effective action.
Utilizes specified training in a comprehensive appraisal of an individual’s health status including physical assessment. Provides direct care and indirect care to the adult/geriatric/adolescent patient and indirect care through consultation with other members of the health care team.

Job Description:

• Evaluates patient needs for immediate intervention, development plan of

care or consultation with and or referrals to other health care team

member based on established protocols

• Assists patients in meeting health needs by identifying potential or

existing problems, exploring available alternatives and providing support

to the patient to make an informed decision regarding healthcare.

• Utilizes minimum anesthesia guidelines for ordering appropriate

laboratory tests and any additional studies as indicated by the patients

health history.

• Reviews laboratory tests obtained as part of the per-operative work-up

and treats abnormal tests as per established protocols and/or primary

Physician. Writes prescriptions for identified health problems as per

established protocols.

• Writes prescriptions for identified health problems as per established
• Communicates with other disciplines for guidance regarding patient care.

Anesthesia, PT, Case Management, Medical specialist or Medical

• Identifies problems in the provision of nursing care and proposes

solutions, taking into consideration the findings from relevant nursing

care monitoring and evaluation activities.

• Conducts effective and timely employee performance appraisal

interviews, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, with appropriate

written documentation consistent with hospital policy.

• Utilizes knowledge of current professional, clinical issues to make

recommendations for changes in unit practice.
