Position: Part-Time Custodian Salary: $15 - $20 per hour

Part Time: 20 hours /week

Neighborhood SHOPP is a multi-service, innovative non-profit agency that supports older adults, caregivers, and the disabled by keeping them safe, engaged, informed, and supported. Neighborhood SHOPP has been a leader in the Bronx supporting seniors, families, and the surrounding communities for over 40 years. As a strength-based organization, SHOPP believes in the philosophy of self-help and mutual assistance, which is translated into the following critical programs to the Bronx community:

Community Care Network Program, 4 Older Adult Centers (Casa Boricua, Leon, Soundview, and Guess), NORC, Case Management with Friendly Visiting, Elder Justice, Caregiver Support Program, and NY Connects.

The CUSTODIAN is responsible for providing janitorial and facilities maintenance support to the SHOPP programming based on assigned location site. At times, the Custodian may be asked to report to other office sites for support. Duties include general and floor cleaning, garbage disposal, minor repairs, light replacements, and other facility maintenance needs. The Custodian reports directly to the Facilities Compliance Manager or assigned Chief Financial/Program Officer. The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, two years of experience in building maintenance, good physical health, and the ability to lift heavy objects.

The CUSTODIAN is specifically responsible for the following tasks: 

• Maintain and sanitize all areas of both suites located in the main office. 
• Maintain sanitary kitchen and bathrooms on site.
• Sweep and mop floors. 
• Move and replace furniture as necessary. 
• Collect and dispose of garbage, wash cans and waste baskets.
• Dust, wash, clean walls, windows, refrigerator, office and program furniture, mirrors, doors, etc.
• Replace lighting bulbs, ensure exit lights are operational. 
• Make minor repairs. 
• Participate in SHOPP staff training or meetings as assigned.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by Leadership.
