We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, by providing Vocational and Community Living Services. We have been serving Individuals with Developmental Disabilities in San Luis Obispo County and Monterey County since 1980. We strive to provide quality services that focus on promoting independence and inclusion for adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities through vocational training, education and adaptive living skills programs, advocacy, and community living services.Â
At NCI Affiliates, our In Residential Support Service Instructors assist our Individuals Served at each Individual's private place of resident and/or in the greater community with learning daily living skills and helping them reach their personal goals. This is not a supervisory position.Â
Essential Duties Include:
Ensure compliance with Individual’s ISP and duties as stated in the Service Design.
Understand and submit all paperwork as required by deadline including transportation paperwork, attendance, job coach notes, objective sheets, incident/accident reports, time studies and case management documentation.
Supply instructions and techniques as considered necessary by the ISP(Individual Service Plan).
Provide lessons and habilitation services as required by the Individual served. Facilitate the acquisition, retention, and improvement of adaptive skill and behaviors. Educate and develop Individual’s served on interaction and social skills within the community.
Encourage and instruct the development of Client’s advocacy skills. Educate and enhance financial management skills. Provide instruction for the proper use of the 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Service.
Teach and improve Individual’s understanding of how to safeguard, enforce, and implement policies to guard against financial, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse or exploitation.
Provide training to the Individual as indicated on the ISP, in order to assure acquisition, retention and improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors as appropriate during the late evening hours.
Education / Experience:Â
A high school education or equivalent is required. Previous experience working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities is preferred. Formal caregiving or in-home experience not required, but preferred; training is provided!
Qualifying Specifications:Â
Must have own vehicle/reliable transportation
Must maintain a current California driver’s license.Â
Must provide on-going proof of current state required auto insurance.Â
Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the agency’s insurance carrier.Â
Must clear fingerprints through the California Department of Justice and the FBI.Â
Must successfully complete First Aid / CPR training (Training is offered onsite)Â
Physical Requirements:Â
Essential functions of this position require that employees regularly sit, stand, bend, twist and walk.Â
Employees may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.Â
