Navajo Technical University is Hiring a Training Coordinator Near Crownpoint, NM

JOB PURPOSE:

Analyzes training needs, develops curriculum and delivers courses. Evaluates the trainee for effectiveness of training and individual employee growth.

This position description indicates in general the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required or assigned to this position.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure excellent customer service with all internal and external customers.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of staff engaged in training, orientation, or other related activities.
  • Schedules and provides logistical support for trainings. Tracks employee certification intervals and requirements; using NEOED/NEOGOV LMS Platform; notifies employees of recertification deadlines and needs on an annual basis.
  • Develops and presents leadership, management and professional development curricula for University employees.
  • Conducts research of current training formats, concepts, techniques, and programs for implementation within university training programs.
  • Participates in reporting and analyzing department metrics.
  • Assists in evaluating training staff's presentation methods and performance.
  • Assists in coaching staff on areas of improvement.
  • Conducts training needs assessment with departments, identifies goals and creates customized training curricula.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
  • Assists in analyzing and assessing training and development needs for employees and university departments.
  • Reviews and approves training documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides information to employees about upcoming trainings.
  • Maintains and track Employee Tuition Waivers and track grades, reviewing for alignment to approved Professional Development Plan (PDP).
  • Reviews and evaluates the performance evaluation process and matrices; makes improvement recommendations to ensure an efficient and effective training program. Tracks employee progress on professional development plans.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports.
  • Maintains, reviews, and ensures accuracy of all records.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.   • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • HS Diploma
  • Associate's Degree in Administrative Assistant or Public Administration.
  • Two years operational experience in coordinating and delivering training programs.
  • Must be able understand and speak conversational Navajo.
  • Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.

The Navajo Nation Preference in Employment Act applies to all hiring, promotions or transfers of individuals into this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and trends in training and development.
  • Knowledge of EEO, ACA, HIPPA, COBRA, and other state, federal and tribal HR laws.
  • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational reports.
  • Teaching and facilitation skills.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training plans, curricula, and methodology.
  • Ability to determine training objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently sits, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat.
  • Use hands for dexterity of motion, Repetitive movement of both hands.
  • Have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communications skills.
  • The employee must occasionally carry up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is typically performed within an office setting or training classroom.
  • Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  • Use of ZOOM or online instruction platforms.
