Transportation Specialist

Transportation Specialists work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families served by providing transportation to the families and youth being served by the National Youth Advocate Program for family visits, appointments, and meetings. We are seeking qualified drivers to transport and supervise DCFS Clients to and from their scheduled appointments and visits.

Compensation: Hourly rate of pay is $18.00 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement. This position offers flexibility and growth! NYAP provides free 16 hour training to prepare our staff for success.

Responsibilities:

The Transportation Specialist will perform duties including, but not limited to:

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies
  • Transport children, youth and families to family visits, multi-disciplinary meetings, appointments, placements, court hearings and other events as requested.
  • Coordinates transportation including organizing and navigating travel destinations, physically escorts, and supervises youth while in transit to scheduled and emergency appointments.
  • Arrive timely for all scheduled transports and follow transportation schedule as detailed.
  • Ensure children and youth are transported according to prescribed safety protocols, including use of child safety restraints.
  • Document all activities in a timely manner including logging mileage and hours worked.
  • Assist in scheduling and arranging appointments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years' of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Reliable transportation, personal vehicle used to transport successfully passes safety inspection.
  • Flexible availability to meet youth and families' needs.
  • A minimum of $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance on vehicle used for transportation.
  • Working, reliable telephone.
  • Must be willing to submit to and successfully complete background checks and physical.
  • Must be able submit three character references.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing.
