National Trench Safety is Hiring a Traffic Control Technician Near San Leandro, CA

We have an exciting opportunity for a Traffic Control Tech in our San Leandro, CA Branch.

SUMMARY: You will perform Labor as a Traffic Control Technician this is an entry-level field position (outdoors) involving driving a company vehicle and setting up devices: cones, signs, barricades, water-filled k-rail, etc. on job site per MUTCD guidelines. Flag traffic to ensure a safe work zone for our customers, employees, and the public.

Essential duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lift, carry, load, and unload traffic control devices, including signs, barricades, pavement marking materials, etc.
  • Set up and remove crash cushions, signs, and traffic control items at a jobsite.
  • Read and follow Traffic Control Plans and properly lay out the traffic equipment per the Traffic Control Plan.
  • Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to and from job site.
  • Repair equipment, assemble signs and perform all other shop work require to prepare for onsite traffic control.
  • Assist in controlling traffic at customer job site by holding up sign
  • Keep accurate and timely job logs and return them to the office daily.
  • Communicate with General Manager and Supervisor to ensure they adequately informed on the project’s progress.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Follow company policies and safety regulations at all times.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Other duties including warehouse and yard work as needed

Qualifications, Education and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Current Class C license
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s licenses and keep an excellent driving record at all times.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, perform repetitive physical work, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, walk, stand for periods of time, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds. Visual abilities include; close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work in unprotected weather elements, able to wear hard toed shoes, and other required personal protective equipment
