National Park Service is Hiring a Maintenance Worker Near Coolidge, AZ

Open to applicants who have maintained a permanent and exclusive residence for a minimum of two years within the local commuting area of Coolidge, AZ. Appointing Authority Schedule A, 213.3112(a)(1)
Open to the first 35 applicants or until 12/06/2022 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
  1. Ability To Do The Work of a Maintenance Worker, WG-4749-05 Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT)
  2. Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order)
  3. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)
  4. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  5. Dexterity and Safety

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:

Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replaces hinges, latches and catches. Assists in maintaining the Monument's buildings and utilities by performing a variety of duties requiring limited knowledge and skills in the trades and crafts (carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, plumbing, etc). Does litter pickup, trash removal and ground's maintenance in parking lot, maintenance yard, adjacent visitor use areas, roads and boundary. Performs custodial work in the visitor center/museum, offices, public restrooms, maintenance shops and other park areas.
