POSITION DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Must be proficient in the English language, including grammatical usage.
4. Must possess patience and the ability to relate tactfully and professionally with all nursing staff members.
5. Must be knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures and policies.
6. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations.
7. Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
8. Must possess outstanding organizational skills.
9. Ability to understand and operate mechanics of a multi-line telephone/paging system.
10. Must have computer experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment. Ability to move intermittently throughout the day.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required -- bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above the shoulders and occasional lifting are involved.
2. Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position.
3. Must be able to observe, listen and communicate effectively.
4. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies and outside agencies.
5. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
1. Appropriately schedule all RNs/LPNs and Certified Nursing Assistants to budgeted staffing levels to cover shifts 24 hours per day – 7 days per week.
2. Monitor schedules to ensure that overtime is not incurred without the prior approval of the Administrator.
3. Replace any call-outs as soon as possible, being sure not to use overtime unless prior approval from the Administrator is received.
4. Process payroll.
OTHER DUTIES
1. Each week – process timecards for the Nursing Department.
2. Track employee vacation, personal, birthday and earned days requested off.
3. Provides reception desk relief as assigned.
4. Meet at least weekly (or more often, as needed) with the Direction of Nursing to discuss Nursing Department staffing needs.
5. Maintain an accurate/updated listing of all nursing staff phone numbers.
6. Provide all Human Resource functions for facility.
7. Other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing or Administrator.
