The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. With more than 50 years of assisting American Indian tribes, Alaska Native villages and corporations, and Native-owned businesses, the National Center has evolved into the largest national Indian-specific business organization in the country.

Who we serve: The organization serves over 1,000 clients that secure over $4 billion in contracts on an annual basis. The key focus areas of the National Center are federal advocacy, economic development assistance for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian-owned businesses, increasing access to capital in Indian Country, and developing training and educational events, including the annual Reservation Economic Summit (RES). The National Center has ten offices throughout the United States, with a home office located in Mesa, Arizona.

A Quick Job Summary - What's special about this role?
Provides administrative and technical guidance and support to staff seeking outside funding for research, public service, and special projects. Negotiates administers, extends, terminates, and renegotiates contracts and sub-contracts, as appropriate to the specific position. Researches and interprets relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards, and oversees the processing of contracts and/or grants.

What will NCAIED's Grants & Contracts Administrator do? Essential responsibilities include ...

  • Guides and facilitates staff in the development, preparation and analysis of research proposals, contracts, sub-contracts, and agreements, to include budgets, documentation, and interpretation of funding requirements
  • Analyzes and evaluates contract and grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories such as salaries, percent of effort, salary adjustment increases, fringe benefits, indirect costs, materials, and equipment
  • Directs and oversees the planning, design, implementation, and support CRM, related policies, and processes needed to identify and manage the revenue and deliverables requirements
  • Prepares required acceptance documentation obtains official administrative signatures and recommends approval or rejection of deviations from contract specifications
  • Assists in the formulation of processes and procedures for negotiation of contract and grant pre-awards and post-awards to meet NCAIED requirements; researches appropriate federal, state, and local requirements to facilitate compliance by all parties; assists in arbitration and resolution of conflicting interests, as necessary
  • Reviews and advises team on requirements related to federal cooperative agreements, grants and other partnerships
  • Coordinates receipt of awards and contract documentation; maintains proposal and funding records in database systems, and prepares scheduled and special reports, studies and analyses
  • Provides on-going administrative and technical guidance to staff
  • Develops and maintains recordkeeping and document maintenance systems and procedures
  • Participates and/or assists in special projects, and performs associated administrative duties, as assigned; may provide functional direction to lower level technicians on assigned work

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • At least three years of directly related experience required.
