GENERAL: The Designer for Napa must have a passion for product, design and retail! The role will be instrumental in designing exceptional product for the ever-evolving elevated Napa brand. Surface design, product design and illustration for a wide variety of hard-goods and soft-goods product categories will require an innate curiosity for product manufacturing processes, materials and finishes. Working closely with Product Management and Sales will be key to being successful in this role.

We are looking for someone who will uphold the brand aesthetic through the expression of product. A creative person who can work well with different types of people with varying departments and varying agendas and needs. This role requires a designer who has their pulse on market trends and a keen knowledge of solid design principles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Designs product across a wide variety of materials, including, but not limited to, ceramics, glass, wood, metal, textiles.
• Creates briefs and/or product specs/tech packs that clearly communicate design objectives.
• Projects will include product renderings, surface/pattern design, sketches/ illustrations, technical drawings, physical mock-ups, packaging.
• Executes seasonal launch presentations as directed.
• Inquires/Understands various fabrications, materials, manufacturing techniques, the cost drivers and necessary testing requirements to aid in the product design process.
• Supports PD Team to review lab dips, material swatches and samples.
• Accountable for seasonal design and spec deadlines.
• Stays up-to-date on color, print/pattern, lifestyle and consumer market trends.
• Keeps organized with file management; assets, documents, images, digital swatch libraries.
• Supports VP, Design and team as required.

PROFICIENCIES:

• Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, particular strength in Illustrator.
• Hand illustration skills a must.
• College Degree in design and/or illustration
• Min 3 years professional experience in design and/or product related field.
• Strong design and color eye.
• Aligned with brand aesthetic.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, high energy, deadline-driven environment.
• Clear communication, both written and verbal.
• Strong analytical ability with active listening skills.
