MISSION:

The Senior Product Manager is a position located within Mersen USA Newburyport MA, LLC. The position reports to the VP of Product Management and has responsibility to manage all assigned product lines in support of the Division’s strategy and the Product Business Line Plan(s). Responsible for the medium voltage fuses, as well as panel assembles which services both commercial construction and industrial/utility marketplaces. This role will own all marketing, development of new products, product line sales & marketing strategy, pricing management and product line maintenance activities. The work will include communication with internal and external teams to create and execute a winning approach that meets the direct and indirect customer requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

MARKETING PLANS:

  • To contribute to the development of a 5 year Product Line Business plan by supplying regional input as requested by the Business Line Manager.
  • To develop, promote and gain approval of a two year product line tactical plan that supports the Product Business Line Plan.
  • To develop, promote and gain approval of two year action plan.

PROFITABILITY AND GROSS MARGIN:

  • To provide pricing strategies and monitor off-book pricing in concert with the Quotations Department.
  • To establish prices for all new products being introduced to the market place.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT:

  • Participate in Techno and Market Expansion Projects that expand the Mersen to products under the Innovation and R&D teams globally
  • To identify new product needs of the established and trending new marketplace from interaction with end users, distributors, OEM’s and the formal use of Voice of the Customer
  • Contributes to the development of the NPDS and product specification used by the Engineering Department to develop all new product development projects
  • To ensure market and customer requirements are contained within the QFD and product specification
  • Monitor progress of all product projects and report the impact of progress against the customer/market requirement in monthly Product Management Review meeting
  • To contribute to the Product Approval Committee by supporting deliverables such as market size, competitive information, price points, risk analysis and others
  • To ensure product introductions are complete with appropriate collateral, promotion, pricing support, and inventory
  • Ensure all the needed market publication information is loaded on the Product Information System (PIM) to ensure new products are pushed out to website site.
  • To track new product performance and adjust plan in accordance with market reaction.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT:

  • Supervise the project specialist (if one is assigned as part of the team) and ensuring the response to customer inquiries on quotations and orders are promptly responded to.
  • Initiate projects and drive our ability to manufacture in different sites/regions to ensure globe coverage.
  • To initiate projects to improve or maintain gross margin.
  • To manage the removal of low volume, obsolete, or unprofitable products.
  • To coordinate the audit of assigned products to insure quality and value
  • To monitor customer reactions/complaints and provide necessary direction to Company for correction.
  • To support the demand management process with input into the sales forecast on a monthly basis.

MARKET DEVELOPMENT:

  • Create and present the market plan to promote the best penetration strategy to utilize and expand the Mersen product portfolio.
  • To maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the markets served by his or her products.
  • To develop and update size and market share information for all products for which he/she is responsible.
  • To maintain continuous surveillance of market and economic changes and trends which could affect the products he/she is responsible for.
  • To search for new opportunities in new and existing markets for the product lines he/she is responsible for.
  • To maintain continuous knowledge of the current price levels of the market place for all products of responsibility.

TECHNICAL MARKETING:

  • To coordinate the production and coordination of all reference material/technical information for publication to field sales and customers.
  • To coordinate and initiate channels of communications for product information to end users, sales and distribution.
  • To support product training of: Field Sales, Representatives, Customer Service and Technical Support.
  • To contribute to the production of articles and press releases as required for newsletters, product data manuals, and articles for publication in pertinent trade journals.
  • To develop and maintain an up-to-date analysis of all pertinent competitive activity including pricing, products, and policies.

POSTIION REQUIREMENTS:

  • College Degree in either Engineering, Business, Marketing, or Operations or equivalent field 
  • Experience. Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years sales and marketing experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Electrical Industry preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience in protection and safety of electrical devices preferred.
