Job Summary:
The Network Engineer will mainly be responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of datacenter network. We provide its client with a highly available/highly scalable broadband datacenter network (mainly IP Clos), to run their large-scale data analytics platform which supports their data analytics capabilities. Other responsibilities will include various duties relating to service expansion from the construction of new server rooms.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, Configuration, and operation of Actapio's datacenter network.
- Selection and Purchasing of Network equipment for expansion of services.
- Design, Configuration, and operation of datacenter network (mainly IP Clos).
- Arrangement of equipment according to Network configuration and cable layout design, and physical installation of equipment and cabling work.
Data Center Related:
- Assist with selection and negotiation of contractors for construction of new server rooms and service expansion.
- Datacenter operation, and the creation of rules and flowcharts related to operation.
- Design for server room rack configuration.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with datacenter network configuration and operation
- Knowledge of Network equipment (switches, routers) and experience with design, configuration, and operation of such equipment.
- Basic understanding of typical protocols used in datacenters, such as BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, etc.
- Basic Knowledge of, and experience using Linux and Network Stack.
- Specialized knowledge regarding cabling and network hardware, transceivers, etc.
- Experience collaborating with multiple people using Gits and/or GitHub.
- Ability to communicate asynchronously using online platforms like Slack (will need to communicate with people in the US, as well as people in Japan, accounting for time differences).
- Japanese/English Bilingual
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of IP Clos, and configuration/operation experience.
- Experience configuring and operating large scale networks.
- Experience using Network configuration automation tools (Network maker tools, Ansible, etc.)
- Development/Operation experience using Python or Go.
- Experience using monitoring system such as Prometheus, Grafana
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or comparable experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Network Engineering or IT field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience with high availability network
