Job Overview: Reporting to the VP Compliance, the Director of Compliance is responsible for operation of Compliance and Risk Management function within the Compliance Division. Provides oversight of Title 31 and Anti-Money Laundering program for SMSC Gaming Enterprise. Responsible for directing and executing Enterprise Risk Management program. Coordinate regulatory responsibilities for the Enterprise with respect to the Gaming Commission and other regulating bodies.

Job Requirements:

Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:

  • Four-year degree in compliance, business, accounting, finance, criminal justice or related field. Advanced degree in law, compliance or accounting can substitute and is preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience that demonstrates gaining a higher level of competency/contribution. 5 years of direct people leadership experience.
  • Licensure or certification as lawyer, CPA, of Compliance professional is a plus.
  • Professional experience related to the position equal to or exceeding seven years, with at least five years of supervisory responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Title 31, Bank Secrecy Act, and OFAC laws, regulations, and related processes.
  • Experience in maintaining an enterprise risk management program.
  • Familiarity and experience with casino and/or gaming regulatory environments.
  • Proficiency required in Word, Excel, and database applications.
  • Must be able to work independently with only general management direction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication proficiency; and ability to interact effectively with staff.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee, together with the VP Compliance, compliance with Title 31, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, and other financial regulations. Provide direct and indirect supervision of team members responsible for CTR and SAR filings. Create, maintain, and verify processes and procedures related to the casino AML program. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws
  • related to financial aspects of casino operation.
  • Plan and execute an Enterprise Risk Management program for the SMSC Gaming Enterprise. Contribute to the development of an ERM framework. Coordinate with all departments within the Enterprise to identify, quantify, and mitigate risk to the Enterprise. Provide reports to Enterprise management and the Board of Directors regarding risk mitigation.
  • Support the VP Compliance and others in assuring compliance with all regulatory requirements for the casino, including submissions to the Gaming Commission and other regulatory agencies. Prepare and review Regulatory Compliance Opinion requests. Review procedures for adherence to MICS and Regulation.
  • Conduct research, analysis, investigations and special project reviews at the direction of the VP Compliance regarding legislation, industry standards, regulatory compliance, areas of noncompliance.
  • Direct the Enterprise’s Responsible Gaming functions in coordination with other operating groups, including security, surveillance, casino operations, and marketing.
  • Develop and provide training to the Enterprise’s team members on all areas of Compliance responsibility.
  • Recruits, interviews, selects, hires, and promotes team members. This includes training, developing, performance management, conducting disciplinary actions and terminations.
