MYR Group is Hiring a Civil Superintendent (Solar) Near Wytheville, VA

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Solar Civil Superintendent is responsible for day-to-day oversight of field crew operations, ensuring that the quality of work and materials is upheld, and that the budget is followed as planned. The Superintendent provides onsite supervision of Civil subcontractor(s), including their craft personnel and activities, and ensures the subcontractor(s) effectively schedules labor, materials, tools and equipment to meet the project schedule requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Create and maintain a collaborative environment with craft, subcontractors, vendors and the customer to continually improve the company's delivery and performance
  • Understand the subcontract scope of work and identify, in advance, any potential change orders
  • Work closely with foremen and field crews to ensure all installations meet quality standards
  • Manage material and personnel requirements necessary to meet the project schedule and production rates
  • Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures as well as safety program requirements
  • Responsible for training and development of field crew, foremen, and general foremen
  • Perform quality audits on Civil scope of work as necessary
  • Coordinate production with mechanical or electrical trades to ensure flow and productivity rates
  • Provide daily Civil progress reports to management team
  • Responsible for the supervision, scheduling and coordination of onsite Civil subcontractor
  • Ensure adherence to company policies as well as state and federal regulations
  • Ensure Civil subcontractors' utilization of best safety practices
  • Ensure Civil subcontractors coordinates their scope of work with other superintendents' scope of work
  • Ensure subcontractors' employees have the proper training with an emphasis on special risks related to cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, heavy equipment operation, electrical safety hazards, etc.
  • Lead daily Stretch and Bend and associated safety talks
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards
ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience progressively-responsible experience roles in the electrical construction industry
  • 5 years or more in a lead role within the solar industry is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • High school diploma or GED is required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple field crews and projects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Must have experience in all aspects pile, tracker and module installation for utility scale solar construction
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability
  • Proficient in the development and implementation of company and contract procedures to include safety, compliance, and documentation of a project
  • Thorough knowledge of reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Proficiency with MS Project and MS Suite such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to travel and work at remote worksites is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
