DescriptionAbout the role
The Benefits and Leave Administrator acts as a Subject Matter Expert on MyEyeDrs Leave of Absence program and serves as primary point of contact for employees on matters related to leaves. This role will also need to be a Subject Matter Expert on the benefit programs. This is a full-time role reporting to the Director, Benefits.
The Benefits and Leave Administrator handles day-to-day or routine tasks with little oversight or guidance and acts as a first level advisor on complex or non-routine tasks. This position requires a team player with a high attention to detail, who exhibits exemplary follow through and problem-solving skills, and who continually seeks and implements process improvement. The Benefits & Leave Administrator will work both independently and within the Human Resources team.
This is a hybrid role with a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC offices.
You Will

  • Interact with Leave Management vendor to ensure administration of leaves, leave tracking and certification/re-certification requests are done properly and timely in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Analyse routine and complex leave requests in accordance with company policy and applicable laws and facilitates an effective leave management program.
  • Coordinate with applicable parties (vendors, internal payroll, human resource partners, legal) to effectively administer leave process.
  • Respond to non-routine inquiries from management and employees regarding leaves of absences in a customer-focused, timely manner.
  • Monitor status of all leaves of absence and takes proactive measures to ensure all necessary updates and communications are provided to employees and the leave process is efficient.
  • Regularly evaluate current practices and new laws/statutes to ensure coordination and adherence to existing policies, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Coordinate with appropriate vendor(s) to ensure that Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD) and Workers Compensation (WC) claims are reviewed, and a determination is made and communicated in a reasonable time frame.
  • Ensure all necessary follow-up with management, human resource partners and employees has been completed to obtain updated leaves.
  • Stay current on laws, case law, regulations and legal precedents relating to leaves. In partnership with legal, ensures company leave-related policies and guidelines follow local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for leave administration. Provides guidance and education to managers, employees, and human resource partners.
  • Identify problems and trends that require corrective action and assists in developing any necessary improvements relating to leave management and leave-end processes. Identifies and shares best practices.
  • Assist with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) interactive process; engaging with human resource partners, legal, employees and management to ensure compliance with applicable polices and legal requirements.
  • Assist human resource partners to facilitate employees returning to work including ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or the equivalent combination of education and training
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits with a focus on leave administration
  • Strong knowledge of ADA and interactive process
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret regulations and statutes
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to treat confidential matters with appropriate discretion
  • Proven ability to solve difficult problems and overcome conflict situations with effective solutions
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with human resource partners, management, legal and employees while providing excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of MS programs including Word and Excel, as well as an ability to quickly learn new software programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
