MYERS PARK COUNTRY CLUB is Hiring an Events Manager Near Charlotte, NC

Description

This position reports to the Director of Events and is responsible for promoting the Club’s facilities for private banquets, meetings, and other member-related activities. The ability to exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment and discretion is required. Proficiency with various computer software programs and general office skills is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tours and offer suggestions in efforts to sell the club’s facilities for the occasion being planned.
  • Oversee and implement club and private events from the planning, finalizing banquet event order, to final stages, including, but not limited to corporate meetings, seminars, weddings, cocktail receptions, rehearsal dinners, club themed parties, golf outings, tennis events, holiday events, private dinners, wine tastings and more. 
  • Suggest and help plan menus in conjunction with the Executive Chef or other culinary personnel.
  • Work closely with all departments which may include culinary, housekeeping, maintenance, etc., as well as members/clients to ensure smooth execution of events which include (layout, AV requirements, menu, pricing, breakdown, and billing).
  • Assure state and local laws and the clubs’ policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed. 
  • Attend weekly banquet meetings to review Banquet Event Orders with members of food and beverage, maintenance, and housekeeping departments.
  • Ensure proper room set-up and time posting prior to the beginning of functions. 
  • Update weekly function information for all affected staff.
  • May be present to oversee the actual event and greet guests.
  • Serve as liaison between kitchen, service, and management staff.
  • Prepare and submit accurate revenue and expenses, such as contract, check requests, and banquet event order invoices to Director of Events.
  • Collaborate with Director of Events to obtain necessary permits for special events and functions.
  • Collaborate with Director of Event for club’s master social/event calendar and function book.
  • Handle member/client complaints. 

Requirements

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • College degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently on high profile assignments; exercise independent judgment and discretion; and make good decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to learn and use Club-specific software programs in the execution of job functions.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of Event Planning/Coordinating, including weddings, preferably in an upscale private club setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • The administrative functions of this job will be completed in an office setting in a seated position.
  • The set up and execution of events will require long periods of standing and walking.
  • The employee should be able to lift, move, and/or carry up to 15 pounds occasionally, as well as carry out various functions that may require pushing, pulling, kneeling, and reaching.

Other Requirements:

  • Final candidates will be subject to a background check.
  • Candidates are expected to dress in business casual and business attire when prompted. 
  • Availability on evenings, holidays and weekends is expected of all staff.
