Position Description

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for certain on-going Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable tasks, as well as supporting the Accounting Manager in addressing issues and completing special projects. This position works extensively with outside vendors and internal employees to resolve Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable issues. The candidate will have a general accounting knowledge, with experience preferred of full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions along with general ledger posting and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable invoices for utilities, employee expense reimbursement, and other miscellaneous invoices.
• Process vendor check runs and initiate electronic vendor payment requests.
• Enter and reconcile raw material vendor purchases.
• Research and resolve supplier and customer account discrepancies.
• Process accounts receivable invoices, credit memos, and adjustments.
• Accounts receivable month-end close.
• Major customer invoicing and reconciliation.
• Analyze and reconcile certain general ledger accounts.
• Complete certain month-end close procedures.
• Year-end Form 1099 reporting.
• Other accounting projects and duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Requires college level accounting coursework and a working knowledge Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using an financial accounting systems, preferably Oracle.
• The candidate will have general accounting knowledge with experience preferred of full-cycle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general ledger posting and reconciliation.
• The qualifying candidate must have the ability to manage assigned projects from inception to completion and determine the accuracy/reliability of data generated both within and outside area of responsibility.
• The candidate should also possess effective organizational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
