JOB SUMMARYConducts boys and/or girls recreational gymnastics classes. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Teaches gymnastics classes in a professional, positive, safe, and respectful manner. Keeps accurate progression records of class students. Maintains a disciplined class structure that maximizes learning opportunities and promotes a positive learning environment Assesses each student’s needs to be challenged without sacrificing the established progression program. Teaches each student in class at their individual ability level. Assists supervisor and other staff in daily gym safety inspections being continually alert to unsafe conditions or activities. Reports unsafe activities or conditions immediately to Gymnastics Manager and resolves as appropriate. Follows all gymnastics safety rules and procedures. Follows established class rotation schedules and teaches skills listed on the MAC Gymnastics lesson plans including each skill’s appropriate lead up progressions. Explains the gymnastics program and teaching methods to parents as appropriate. Communicates member concerns with program to supervisor. Begins class preparation fifteen minutes prior to the start of each class. Attends all required staff meetings, clinics, workshops, and special activities as requested by supervisor. Maintains a professional standard of conduct at all times. Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Reports all workplace injuries and illnesses to supervisor. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. SECONDARY FUNCTIONSPerforms other tasks as assigned by supervisor and/or Gymnastics Department ManagerSupervise open gyms as assigned.ESSENTIAL TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES AND/OR MACHINERYEssential job functions require the safe operation of all gymnastics apparatus and teaching aids including spotting apparatus. Ability to use a telephone, computer, and printer is helpful. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONSEssential job functions require frequent walking, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting. Must have the ability to hand spot beginning through intermediate gymnasts, move easily on soft and irregular surfaces and stand on feet for up to four continuous hours. Ability to hear instructions, questions and loose equipment required.QUALIFICATIONSExperience instructing children in physical activity.Prior recreational gymnastics experience preferred.Possession of current CPR and first aid certifications preferred.Ability to teach fundamental gymnastics skills in a professional, positive, safe, fun and respectful manner.Ability to communicate effectively with parents and children.Ability to perform the essential job functions.
