Multnomah Athletic Club is Hiring an Assistant Volleyball Coach Near Portland, OR

Multnomah Athletic Club is looking for enthusiastic and experienced 12U-18Uassistant volleyball coaches for the upcoming 2023-2024 club season!Position is part-time, seasonal work November-April. Pay starts at $16/hour.JOB SUMMARYMAC assistant volleyball coaches work with the head coach to conduct practices, oversee games and educate athletes in game play & strategy while demonstrating appropriate sportsmanship and fostering leadership, teamwork and cooperation among peers. Teaching players how to become leaders, good teammates , and to create a great work ethic is the foundation of the program. The assistant coach is responsible for ensuring age-appropriate skill instruction for their teams or classes with practices held 2-3 times per week. The regular club volleyball season typically runs November through April. Pre-season practices and open gyms will begin in early fall, with tryouts starting at the beginning of November. Once teams are created, practices begin right away.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSAssists head coach with planning team practices and team goals.Utilizes Team Snap to send communications regarding practices, team status updates, schedule changes etc.Evaluates & develops athlete skills, provides constructive feedback.May instruct in clinics, group lessons & private lessons occasionally.Works in cooperation with the head volleyball coach to develop skills, game strategy, and to promote a whole athlete mentality (mental, emotional, physical well-being).Effectively and professionally responds to parent comments and concerns.Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Reports all workplace injuries and illnesses to supervisor.Promotes the MAC mission and values in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members.Stays up to date on techniques and rules of competitive volleyball by taking advantage of professional advancement opportunities.Maintains regular and predictable attendance.Occasional out-of-state and local travel required.Must be willing to coach in case the head coach is unable to attend a practice our tournament.Must attend all program meetings.Attend 2-3 tournaments per month.Attend 2-3 practices per week.Team bonding activities recommended and encouraged.Represent Multnomah Athletic Club well at all times, both inside and outside of the club, and in all communication to other coaches, referees, parents, and other persons.REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONSMust have at least 4 years of experience in playing volleyball (school, club, collegiate, intramurals, adult league, etc.)Must have a current CEVA Adult Coach of Juniors Membership.Demonstrates effective planning, supervisory, organizational, and communication skills.Must be willing to travel (coaches of traveling teams).Must have reliable transportation to get to/from local/regional tournaments (anywhere from Seattle to Eugene).Must be willing to work weekends and evenings.Must be willing to work/travel on holiday weekends (MLK, Presidents Day, Memorial Day).Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with members, parents and staff.CPR/First aid certification.INCENTIVES/BENEFITSPaid travel (flights, lodging, food, transportation)Downtown parkingCompetitive starting payOpportunities for professional advancement (coaching clinics, resources, coaching network)MAC club benefits (utilize gym facilities and discounts at on-site restaurants and retailers)Be apart of an energetic, competitive, and positive work environment!More information & resources:CEVA MembershipsSafesport Training Information
