mtheory is Hiring a Marketing Director Near Los Angeles, CA

mtheory is seeking a motivated, outgoing, team-oriented and organized individual to work closely with managers, artists and mtheory teammates to facilitate client success in today’s music market. The Director of Marketing/Team Lead will work as a generalist at the direction of mtheory senior management to execute and implement strategic and operational initiatives on behalf of clients and their artists in Los Angeles.

The Director of Marketing must have a strong foundational knowledge of all aspects of the music industry with a specialization in the digital and streaming landscape. The Director of Marketing/Team Lead will have a strong foundational knowledge of all aspects of the music industry through regular interaction with record labels, music publishers, management, online and digital marketing, new technologies, advertising, visual assets, radio promotion, publicity, sponsorship, touring, production and manufacturing, event planning, and special projects. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple projects at one time, learn quickly, communicate effectively, build meaningful relationships, and take initiative. Ideal candidates will have a strong pre-existing network in the digital music market.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Client Teams to develop artist marketing plans and strategy based on the short- and long-term goals of the artists and managers
  • Develop strong relationships with our partners at management teams, labels, and agencies.
  • Provide artist managers and external teams with actionable analysis including music performance across platforms/territories, social audience growth, merchandise revenue (D2C & touring), and more.
  • Study and drive marketing innovations with our partners specifically focused on our artist roster from internal shared learnings and marketplace awareness.
  • Educate the manager clients on new opportunities, promotions, and market drivers in the digital space and with social/digital platforms

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years experience in the music industry or marketing/entertainment
  • Knowledge of online and digital platforms including social media
  • Knowledge of analytics platforms, including (but not limited to): Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, Chartmetric
  • Familiarity with running digital advertising campaigns
  • Excellent social and relationship building skills
  • Excellent business acumen and diplomatic instinct
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong network within the music industry
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Proactive with strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to work in a loosely structured entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to interact with creative executives, managers and artists

Preferred Skills:

  • Google Suite experience
  • Knowledge of analytics platforms, including (but not limited to): Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, Chartmetric
  • Experience pulling and analyzing data (creating reports as well as interpreting data)
  • Fluency in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
