MSI Mold Builders is Hiring a CNC Machinist 1 - 2nd Shift Near Cedar Rapids, IA

Summary/Objective

The CNC Machinist 1 operates machines in the 2D/prep areas of production under supervision and direction of CNC Lead or Production Manager.

Essential Functions (include the following, however, other duties may apply.)

  1. Create programs using Lemoine and/or Prospector in Iowa and Lemoine in South Carolina.
  2. Must be willing and able to work in other areas as the workload requires.
  3. Identify process problems, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies and contribute to solutions.
  4. Participate in the process of tooling selection on new techniques, technologies; monitors tooling inventories, maintains tooling cabinets.
  5. Provide re-quotes, inform other department operators of project details using written and verbal communication.
  6. Performs and records inspections for quality. Fill out paper work for signing off the job.
  7. Monitor job progress against job hours via project sheets and email.
  8. Maintain an organized and clean work center.
  9. Support development and implementation of new policies, procedures, equipment, and tooling that will help the department and MSI meet our CDQ goals.
  10. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the CNC Lead.
  11. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  12. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
  13. Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, taping, de-burring, and inspection.
  14. Must be familiar with the basic machining functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
  15. Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, type or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type This is a full-time position.

Travel No regular travel is expected for this position.

  1. 2 Year CNC Program diploma or certificate or;
  2. Equivalent experience
