MSA Professional Services, Inc. is Hiring an Assistant Planner Near Milwaukee, WI

Overview

We are currently looking for a full time Assistant Planner in our Madison or Milwaukee office locations. This person will collaborate with our internal staff of planners, engineers, and architects to complete a wide variety of projects. Our planning group provides planning and design services to public and private clients in a variety of settings and addresses issues including comprehensive planning, downtown revitalization, economic development, park & rec planning, transportation planning, and land development. We are especially interested in someone with capacity for urban design and/or development ordinance administration, including training and/or experience in both planning policy and urban design.

Responsibilities

The work you may do

  • Collect, analyze and summarize data from various sources
  • Create plan documents, including planning policy (content) and document design (format)
  • Design and/or assist with public engagement activities
  • Prepare designs for the development or improvement of neighborhoods, for public and private clients
  • Prepare policies for plans and ordinances that guide community development, and/or assist with ordinance administration
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications

Qualifications

What you bringSkills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, or related area of study required (Master’s degree in planning preferred)
  • No planning experience required. Relevant internship or other experience is preferred, especially if candidate does not have a master’s degree.
  • Familiarity with MS Office required and Adobe Creative Cloud required
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS and 3D graphics tools is a plus
  • Previous work experience in consulting is a plus
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position.
